A Useful First Edit
Open a file with File → Open…. Listen once to decide which part needs attention, then select a section on the waveform. Check the displayed Start, End and Duration before cutting or processing the audio. Keep the original file and export your result with a new name.
Choose a Help Topic
- Browse the current help topics for recording, editing, effects and saving.
- Record a microphone or computer playback using Tools → Record….
- Select and trim an MP3 for a shorter clip.
- Apply an audio effect and compare the result with Undo.
- Choose an output format for a working or delivery copy.
Save for the Next Step
Use File → Convert / Export… to choose Whole file or Selection only, a format and its available settings. A compressed format such as MP3 makes a delivery copy; WAV or FLAC can suit an editing workflow. Repeatedly re-encoding an MP3 can affect quality.
These topics describe the current 64-bit Windows release. For installation requirements and first-use component downloads, see setup information. For audio CDs or disc images, choose a separate disc tool.
